The @mta.ca Alumni Email service is retiring on January 31, 2026.

°®¶¹´«Ã½app is discontinuing access to its old Webmail system for alumni as part of ongoing information security and privacy improvements. The @mta.ca Alumni email service will be discontinued on Jan. 31, 2026.  After this date, alumni will no longer be able to access messages or data stored in their @mta.ca Webmail system. Please update your preferred email address to stay connected with the University using the designated update form.

When will alumni lose access to the old Webmail system?

The @mta.ca Alumni email service will be discontinued on January 31, 2026. After this date, alumni will no longer be able to access messages or data stored in their @mta.ca Webmail system.

Who does this change apply to?

This immediate change applies to alumni who are using the old Webmail system.

Why is the University asking alumni to update to a non-@mta.ca Alumni email service?

  • The old Webmail system does not meet current security standards, and this requires that you provide us with your current personal email address to maintain communication.

     

  • °®¶¹´«Ã½app is a public body subject to the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RTIPPA). Email stored on university systems may be subject to access-to-information requests under this legislation. This means that any information in your @mta.ca, including personal and financial information, may be required to be disclosed as a result of a request under the Act.

What actions should alumni take before January 31, 2026?

  • Alumni are encouraged to access their @mta.ca email address and retrieve or download any messages, attachments, or information they wish to retain.  

  •  

    ​Update their preferred email address with the University using the designated update form.

After January 31, 2026, this information will no longer be accessible.

What happens to messages sent to your @mta.ca email account after the system is retired?

The sender will receive a message indicating that the email was not delivered.

Can alumni retain the @mta.ca email account as an alias or forwarding address?

No, your @mta.ca account itself will be fully deactivated and cannot be maintained as an alias or forwarding address.

Does this change affect current students, faculty, or staff?

No. This change applies to alumni using the old Webmail system. Current students, faculty, and staff are not affected.

How will Mount Allison use my updated email address?

Your updated e-mail address will be used to communicate alumni news, event information, and University updates, in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and Mount Allison’s privacy practices.

Every Allisonian (alumni, student, staff) who refers a prospective student will be entered into a draw for one of three $500 VISA gift cards. Draw date: April 2, 2026.

Every student who is referred and completes an application, accepts their letter of offer, and pays their deposit is entered into a draw for four prizes: One $3,000 tuition credit or three $100 Mountie Money gift cards.
